What are the requirements to drive in japan?

⚠️ You must present your original passport, a valid driver’s license, and either an International Driving Permit under the 1949 Geneva Convention or an official Japanese translation, depending on the country that issued your license.

Requirements vary by country.

Photocopies or digital images are not accepted. Please confirm your exact requirement before booking using the Japan Automobile Federation guidance: JAF — Switch to a Japanese License. We reserve the right to refuse service if documents do not meet legal requirements or cannot be verified.

What documents and checks are required to drive?

Before departure, staff verify driver identification, required driving documents (as applicable under Japanese law), signed waivers, and insurance. If a guest cannot meet legal or insurance requirements at check-in, they cannot drive.

This is a car rental service with a suggested, optional route. A safety car leads the way.

Bottled water and light snacks are provided. Admissions and meals are not included unless stated otherwise in your booking. Some tours may offer optional add-ons like a camera operator or themed lunch boxes.

The fleet includes models like Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo, Subaru WRX STi A-Line, Toyota GT86, and Nissan Fairlady Z. The listed specs show automatic transmissions across the current lineup; actual car selection is subject to availability on the day.

Routes, timing, or stops may be adjusted for safety or operations. The goal is to deliver an equivalent experience and similar tour duration.
